Ava Dobson competed in the third round of the 2025 GB4 Championship at Oulton Park Race Track with her team, Arden Motorsport, and earned a top-ten P8 finish representing her best result of the GB4 Season.
Dobson’s practice results through five sessions each sat in the mid-teens from P16-P12. Her qualifying session was consistent with this trend, landing in P16 to line up for the first race.
This was the end of the status quo for Ava.
In Race 1, Ava began back in her P16 starting slot, but was simply dissatisfied. Through resilient race craft and avoidance of other drivers’ accidents, she pushed up the time table by eight positions and took the checkered flag at P8. This was her best finishing position in the GB4 Championship since her P10 finish earlier in the season in Race 2 at Donington Park Circuit.
Ava said, “It felt fantastic to break the top-ten again in my first season of GB4. The attitude always has to be getting to the front, no matter where I start after qualifying. Making up positions and having grit is what the single-seater ladder is all about.”
Unfortunately, Ava’s next two races of the weekend did not go as well as the first. Race 2 ended in a DNF following an incident on track, and a mistake resulted in her taking P19 in Race 3.
The takeaway of the weekend for Dobson was to identify the immense positives of Race 1 and apply them in future races.
“I’m really focused on the success I had this weekend in Race 1,” said Dobson, “Once you get into the front end of the field, you can go back, watch film, look at data, and find where you did well and find ways to do that again in future races. That’s exactly what I plan to do in Snetterton later this summer.”
Ava Dobson now stands at 22nd place in GB4 with 47 championship points. She will be back on track in Snetterton, England from July 12-13, 2025.
